How to choose a restaurant table top?
You need to select your table tops with care if you want your restaurant to be well laid out and well decorated. Table tops are an essential part of any restaurant's furnishings. Not only do they serve an important dual function as supports on which to place your cutlery and elegantly set the table, but they can also be used as decorative elements. Added to this, they can also help you build customer loyalty by providing a space for conviviality and comfort. The question is: how do you choose the right restaurant tabletop?
The manufacturing material
To choose the right restaurant tabletop, you first need to consider the material it's made from. As you know, each material has its own characteristics, color nuances and decorative rendering, so it's up to you to see which one best suits your needs. Solid wood, for example, is a very interesting material. It's renowned for its great strength and high resistance to humidity, and can make your interior design more original. Plywood, on the other hand, is solid and durable. It provides a decorative surface, usually white or gray, and is compatible with metal stabilizing bars for worktops.
Table dimensions
The second criterion for choosing a tabletop is its size. A round tabletop 80 cm in diameter can effectively accommodate 3 place settings, and a round tabletop 180 cm in diameter can accommodate 10 place settings. On the other hand, a rectangular tabletop measuring 120x75 cm can accommodate up to 4 place settings, and a rectangular tabletop measuring 240x80 cm can seat up to 8. As far as square table tops are concerned, you can find high-quality, non-cluttered models on the Richard Diffusion website, including the 70x70 Sarcelles natural wood composite square top, the 60x60 Leroy melamine limestone-iris square top and the 68x68 Lamidur anthracite square top. These units can accommodate up to 2 place settings, making them ideal for the catering trade.
The table edge and anti-noise property
Finally, the last points you need to consider are the type of table edge and the anti-noise property. In general, we distinguish between the normal table edge, the natural table edge, the rounded table edge and the Swiss table edge. You can also opt for table tops with a high-performance acoustic coating, i.e. a coating consisting of a sheet of cork inserted between 2 sheets of chipboard.
